1. Interpreting Terms

The following terms apply to all interpreting assignments.

  • Interpreting hours — All time from start to finish counts as interpreting hours, including breaks, minus up to one hour for lunch (unless interpreting continues through lunch, in which case it counts).
  • Rehearsal — A same-day rehearsal is included in interpreting hours; a separate rehearsal on another day is billed at the same rate as interpreting.
  • Pre-briefing — A separate pre-briefing meeting before the assignment is billed hourly by agreement; a same-day pre-briefing is included in interpreting hours.
  • Night surcharge — A surcharge applies to interpreting between 10 PM and 6 AM.
  • Recording & broadcast — Recording or filming is only done with prior agreement; internal-use and public/broadcast use (including livestreamed video conferences) are surcharged at different rates.
  • Cancellation policy — Once a contract is confirmed, cancellation fees apply: 30% (4–7 days before), 40% (2–3 days before), 50% (the day before), 100% (same day).
